Dawn Treader Review

A short while back I got a message from the people behind the Dawn Treader Review podcast asking me to review their podcast. I have said before I won't pull any punches, so I chose the latest episode, The Bermuda Triangle: Vortex of Vanishing Forms and prepared to hear the usual chat show format. I was disappointed. It wasn't the usual format at all, in fact it was nothing short of a revelation.

What we have is an innovative, magazine format show, which is well produced, with really cool sound effects and music. This podcast is nothing short of audio art. I expected the "blog talk radio" style husband and wife chat. This is nothing of the sort, it is an audio treat.

If I am being completely honest I found it difficult to grasp what I was listening to for the first few minutes, but once I understood, once I got the concept, it was easy listening. Imagine snippets of the best parts of other podcasts and interviews, set to music with sound effects. There really is nothing like this podcast.

Season 8 Premiere Binnall of America

On the 3rd of October Tim Binnall kicked off season 8 of his highly successful podcast. The guest on this occasion was Jim Marrs, invited to discuss his new book titled "Our Occulted History". The full show is a rather lengthy 1 hour and 56 minutes. Recently Binnall has changed the way the show is produced. In the past the time between episodes being released was often inconsistent, and led to a few "on-air" apologies. Now future shows will be broadcast Live. That was a gutsy decision by a committed podcaster. The things that could go wrong are endless. However this show is pre-recorded and Jim Marrs is a returning guest.

So did it work?

Paranormal blog back from the dead !

This blog has not been updated in a little while - ok, a long while. But it's back. I fully intend to get this blog up to speed again in as short a space of time as possible.

A whole host of podcasts, radio and TV shows have appeared over the last 12 months, and they are all fair game. Audiences aren't dumb. I have spent time watching and  listening to the same old tired format being presented and really appreciate the efforts of film makers and presenters who go in depth.

So this week we'll have a review of Binnal of America - Live posted in the next few days. This was an episode featuring Jim Marrs as the guest. I wont give too much away, but lets just say the chat was interesting...

Oh and there will also be a new links page which will be awesome, and a few other surprises.

Watch this space.

The Paracast Review

I have added a new Paranormal Podcast review to the review page, this time looking at the Paracast, hosted by Gene Steinberg and Christopher O'Brien.

This is a show I have followed since it began, and spent many happy hours being informed and entertained by...........find out why I believe "The Gold Standard of Paranormal Radio" is now nothing more than a shiny counterfeit of its former greatness.

The Best Paranormal Podcasts

Podcasts - Audio

Many shows deal with paranormal topics and quality varies greatly, however every entry on this post is a podcast which has high production values and deals with the subject in a rational manner. All of these podcasts are free, although some may have premium content available in addition to the main show.

To the right of this post there is a much more comprehensive, and regularly updated, list of podcasts. Many are excellent, some less so. Some have great production but questionable content so listener beware.

Check out the reviews page (Link at the top of this page) for show, book and film reviews before you part with your money.

Here are the best podcasts out there......

Every week the two Australian hosts, Benjamin Grundy and Aaron Wright present this highly polished and hugely entertaining show. All paranormal topics are explored and there are occasional guest interviews. Premium content is available in addition to the main show.

Binnall of America
Tim Binnall has done an incredible job of producing not only a fantastic podcast but a paranormal website which is well worth exploring. The Podcast features guest interviews which cover all areas of the paranormal. There is an impressive archive of previous shows, all of which are free.

Radio Misterioso
Greg Bishop is the host of this show which features credible guests, listener call ins, and although by no means of a professional quality in terms of production, is most certainly one of the more balanced podcasts out there. This podcast deals primarily with the UFO enigma. All Radio Misterioso shows are free and previous shows are available to download.
